In the Wildwind living room, Anna was pained by memories
of her past. Edmund comforted an upset Anna as she broke down in tears. Brooke
arrived to find Anna in Edmund's arms, and she offered to go. Edmund told Brooke
that Anna had recovered her full memory as Anna struggled with the question of
what to do next. Frustrated, Anna expressed the need to find a life of her own.
Edmund wondered if she wanted to return to Port Charles, and he reminded her
that she was welcome to stay with him indefinitely. Suddenly, a terrible
headache struck Anna, so Edmund and Brooke rushed her to the hospital. After an
examination, Jake suggested that she see a psychiatrist, but Anna refused to
spend the night talking to a "shrink." Anna told Jake that she must
tell Robin that her father is really dead. She made a hasty exit before Jake
could stop her, and she literally bumped into David on her way out.

After overhearing Anna's plea, David volunteered to sign
Anna's release papers. Jake reminded David that he yielded no power at the
hospital, but David informed him that he had been reinstated. Tad and Dixie
confirmed David's revelation to a disbelieving Jake. Brooke and Edmund advised
Anna to follow Jake's orders, but she was adamant about leaving. Anna then
announced her desire to go to Africa, and Edmund voiced his disapproval. Alone,
Anna admitted to Edmund that she desired different things from life. Anna told
Edmund that she couldn't pretend to be someone she's not, and she hoped that he
didn't resent her. Edmund was pleased that they were close enough friends to be
honest. Anna apologized to Jake for her behavior, and he explained that he was
just taking care of her as Alex would want. David told Jake that he wanted to
offer him a job, saying he wanted to recommend Jake for the Warneford chair.
Jake was stunned, while Anna was impressed by David's arrogance.

Anna snuck into David's room
to return a medical book that Gabriel had borrowed. A naked David emerged from
the bathroom and snagged a departing Anna. David questioned her motives, and she
maintained that she was merely returning his book. David commented that spies
don't get caught unless they want to, and Anna admitted that she came out of
boredom. David questioned Anna about her visit with Robin, but they were
interrupted by the phone. David told the person that they had better follow
orders or they would pay the price. Anna revealed that she used to throw herself
into her work, but unfortunately she couldn't do that anymore. David then
attempted to alleviate Anna's negative state of mind with a deep, passionate
kiss. Despite her obvious intrigue, Anna pulled away and rushed out. Edmund
learned that Anna had moved out of Wildwind with Gabriel, and he avoided
Brooke's questions by focusing on a story idea. Edmund worked on convincing a
reluctant Brooke to move forward with a story highlighting the drug trade in
Pine Valley. Edmund revealed that all he had so far was a name-
"Proteus."

At SOS, Jake accepted David's job offer as Anna
arrived to see Gabriel. David was impressed when Gabriel proved that he had read
the medical book by answering some of David's questions correctly. Upon Chris'
arrival, Anna dropped a glass on the floor. Anna confronted Chris to confirm
that she did indeed know who he was. A curious David and Mateo watched as Chris
reminded "Agent Scorpio" not to draw attention to him while he's
undercover. After Chris left, David questioned Anna about the exchange, and she
told him to mind his business.

Meanwhile, Anna jumped into Erica's limo to confront
Chris. Anna told Chris she knew he was a fed, and she asked if Chris remembered
her. Chris said that of course he remembered Agent Devane, considering she
pulled a gun on him when they first met. Chris and Anna shared more memories of
working together, and Anna revealed her desire to jump back in the saddle. When
Chris refused to include Anna in his investigation, she revealed that she was
aware of his troubles and the internal investigation. However, Chris still
refused to involve her in his investigation. Erica caught Anna with Chris and
demanded an explanation, but Chris covered. Alone, Erica ordered Chris to stay
clear of Anna, but Chris quickly rushed to her defense. Erica blamed Gillian's
death on Anna's reckless past, but Chris said she had no right to judge her.
Chris then stormed off, leaving Erica taken aback.
- Monday, October 8, 2001-
Anna returned to her
Valley Inn room to find the door ajar and someone moving about. Anna grabbed the
man only to discover that it was her brother-in-law, Mac Scorpio. Mac chastised
Anna for not telling him face-to-face that she remembered Robert had died in the
boat explosion. Anna admitted that telling Robin about Robert was difficult
enough, and she didn't have the courage to face Mac. Anna asked Mac about his
loved ones in Port Charles, and he asked Anna to return there with him. Anna
refused, saying she was remaining in Pine Valley indefinitely. Anna piqued Mac's
curiosity, prompting him to question her as to why she wouldn't return home.
When she remained vague about her reasons for staying in Pine Valley, Mac
surmised that Anna was up to something.

Edmund defended Leo's actions to an upset Brooke, and he
suggested that they let Leo and Laura work out their own problems. Brooke,
Edmund, and Leo caught Laura sifting through trash, but she covered by saying
that she was looking for her magazine. Edmund shared the latest developments on
"Proteus" with Brooke. Edmund said that evidence from Interpol stated
that the person knew science and law, and that they could be using the medical
field as a cover. Edmund then shared his suspicion that David could be
"Proteus." Serious, Edmund informed Brooke that he intended to cover
the story on his own because of the danger surrounding it. David asked a
towel-clad Anna to invite him into her room, but they were interrupted by an
irate Dixie. David wanted to speak privately with Dixie, but Anna insisted they
stay in her room so she could get a better idea of who David really was. Anna
observed with interest as Dixie berated David for attacking Joe professionally.
David claimed that he wanted to protect Joe from ruining his stellar career, but
Dixie wasn't buying his fabrication. While they were arguing, Anna secretly
palmed something from her dresser. After Dixie stormed off, Anna accused David
of still having feelings for Dixie. Anna told David that she wasn't offended by
his attack on Joe, but astonished at how he let Dixie intimidate him. While
seductively distracting David with a kiss, Anna planted a tracking device in his
medical bag.
- Friday, October 12, 2001-
Dressed in sexy attire,
Anna arrived at David's romantically set room. Anna revealed to David that she
had a tough day because Gabriel had left to live with Alex and Dimitri. David
coyly commented that Anna wanted to live alone in order to do the "spy
thing." Anna continued to use seduction to find out information about
David, and a suspicious David asked if Anna thought he was the bad guy she was
trying to nail. Anna asked David if "Proteus" meant anything to him,
but David avoided association other than through literature. The two moved to
the bed as they kissed passionately. When David stepped away, Anna answered his
phone. Upon his hasty return, David grabbed the phone and freaked out.
Frustrated by his behavior, Anna rushed out in a huff. From the hallway, Anna
spied as Roger arrived to do business with David.
- Monday, October 15, 2001-
Anna flashed back to her
passionate moment with David, and his reaction to her answering his phone. As
she observed the tracking equipment, Anna realized that David was on his way to
her room. David arrived and asked Anna if they could finish what they had
started. David then inquired about her interest in "Proteus," but Anna
evaded his line of questioning. After David left, Anna commented that she would
figure out David's secrets, as she looked at the tracking device. Anna followed
David to a cabin, where David revealed that he knew she was tracking him. David
popped open a bottle of champagne, and he instigated further romance with Anna.
Anna gave in to David's advances, and the two started to make love.
- Tuesday, October 16, 2001-
David and Anna gave in to
their mutual passion, making love at the cabin. Afterward, David discovered Anna
snooping around his lab. He asked her what it felt like to be sleeping with the
enemy, but she just coyly smiled. Anna then spotted a jade figurine, saying that
is was one of the Chen Jade 3. David told Anna it was merely a copy, but when
she pretended to almost drop it, David freaked. Anna called David on his lie and
informed him that she knew it was the real one because she was the one who had
stolen it in the past. Anna appeared ready to live a life above the law with
David, saying that he had finally met his match. Passions reignited as the two
started kissing again.
- Thursday, October 18, 2001-
Upon returning to the
Valley Inn, Anna thanked David for their cabin adventure. The two fell into a
kiss as David realized that he left his keys in the car. When David stepped
away, Chris grabbed Anna and informed her that he was aware of her mission
regarding David. Chris warned her to stop tracking him, and to stay out of his
investigation. Anna wondered if Chris suspected that David was Proteus, but he
evaded her question. David caught Chris and Anna together, but Chris covered by
saying he was merely asking Anna for a date. When Chris departed, David worked
on uncovering the real reason for his presence with the help of seduction. After
Anna and David made love, Anna threw David a bone by cautioning him not to trust
Chris. David hoped that he could trust Anna with his secrets as the two started
to kiss passionately again.
- Monday, October 29, 2001-
Anna noted David's long absence and, upon his return, she fished for reasons. David remained vague, and Anna moved her
investigation to Roger. Meanwhile, the judge let Greenlee off the hook, and Edmund observed as Laura reacted with anger.
Edmund
assured a worried Brooke that he intended to remain neutral, and he turned the focus to romance.
- Wednesday, October 31, 2001-
Anna asked Chris if Roger was "Proteus," but Chris refused to share information on his case. Anna riled Chris when she approached
Ryan and participated in his developing endeavors to find his father, and Chris finally confessed to Anna that he killed Ryan's father.
