Edmund Gets Too Close (Feb. 14, 2000)
Edmund can't get over Alex's taking down the gunman in the mall and is curious how she was able to do it (and yet say she doesn't remember how she could do it).

Edmund: "Are you being modest?"

Alexandra: "No."

Edmund: "You have no idea how you managed to take down an armed robber?"

Alexandra: "It happened too fast."

Edmund: "It was one of the bravest things I've ever seen."

Alexandra: "Glad to be of service."

Edmund: "If there's nothing else?"

Policeman: "No. Thanks again."

The scene fades out, then returns later.
Edmund: "Alex, you have no idea what came over you?"

Alexandra: "It was adrenaline. I mean, you've heard those stories about mothers getting superhuman strength and pulling a car off their child when it's trapped underneath."

Edmund: "Yeah, but what you did took some skill."

Alexandra: "It was a reflex. You would have done the same thing under the circumstances."

Edmund: "If I were a Navy Seal, maybe."

Alexandra: "You were the one who ran after the gunman when Palmer was shot, remember?"

Edmund: "Running I can do. A three-point takedown? I mean, you gave him a backhand, a roundhouse and then a whip kick. That was very impressive. That takes thousands of hours to do that before you get to do it... what did you call it, reflex? Alex, you've had some training."

Alexandra: "Well, not in the recent past. Certainly not when I was at the height of my medical practice, that's for sure."

Edmund: "All right. How about when -- before you were a doctor?"

Alexandra: "Of course, yeah. I forgot. When I was hospitalized in Wales. They had a self-defense class for paranoid psychotics. You don't want to mess with us."

Edmund: "That's very funny."

Alexandra: "Well..."

Edmund: "There's a whole chapter in your life that you can't remember."

Alexandra: "No, I am. I'm remembering things about Geoffrey and what happened. It's just something else will come back."

Edmund: "All right, listen. I'm just glad you came back. I don't know how you got this skill, but I'm just glad you had it. Because when that guy was waving that pistol at you, I was scared for you. And you're part of family, and I... I'd like you to stick around."

Edmund: "Nothing went through your mind when that maniac got a hold of you?"

Alexandra: "Well, yeah. I was frightened. And then... then I felt really angry. I swear to you, the next thing I remember is I was watching myself take this guy out. That's honest."

Edmund: "Ok. Can we try something? Just you and me. We'll try to recreate what happened, and maybe..."

Alexandra: "What?"

Edmund: "No, I'll be the robber. Maybe it'll help jog your memory. Okay."

Alexandra: "No. What if I hurt you?"

Edmund: "I'll take that chance."

Alexandra: "Yeah, well, be careful."

Edmund: "Okay. Now, he had you... he had you like this, right? His arm was out here, and he held you. Ok, now, you ready? Try to throw me."

Alexandra: "No, I can't do this."

Edmund: "Come on. You can do it. What's the matter? You don't remember anything? You don't feel anything?"

Alexandra: "Not the same thing. No, it was a fluke."

Edmund: "It was... I think it's a safer bet that your... ahem... martial arts training goes under the... one of those lost chapters of your memory. I don't think it was an accident."

Alexandra: "Which is why I should find someplace else to live. You should stay as far away from me as possible."

Edmund: "You want to move out? Why, Alex?"

Alexandra: "Because in the middle of a perfectly normal afternoon, I suddenly remember that I killed a man. I pushed David down the stairs, and I come this close to doing it again."

Edmund: "That was because he pushed you that time."

Alexandra: "Now literally erupting out of me are lethal skills which I apparently have absolutely no control over. Is that
somebody that you want to live around, or your children?"

Edmund: "This is your home, okay? This is your home, and not because Dimitri asked me to watch out for you. It's because your family and I care about you. I do."

Alexandra: Oh, I'm so sorry you ever got involved in this."

Edmund: "I'm not."
